Publication Date: August 1, 2009
Synopsis from Goodreads:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.

Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.

Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

My Review:
The book's premise didn't remind me of Twilight, but as I noticed as the story progressed, I found myself comparing the two. However, I did enjoy this one.
Shiver follows a girl named Grace, who always watches this one wolf, with yellow eyes.
But her wolf is a werewolf, and not any regular werewolf- instead of changing when the moon is full, they change depending on the temperature. When it's warm, they're human, and when it's cold, they're a wolf again.
This intrigued me, because most books aren't even about wolves anymore, I think dead people are the new thing, and a new, different kind of werewolf? Gimme.
Grace wasn't the independent woman I like in YA novels (if you've watched Christine's (polandbananaBOOKS) video on judging the plot, you know the "independent woman" joke. *wink*), but I do suppose she had a heart. Sam was sweet, and so very desperate. The whole plot wasn't really there, things just happened. I do wonder how Grace's parents wouldn't suspect Sam being a wolf.
OH. And the whole romance. URGH. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO KEEP PUTTING INSTA-LOVE? WHY? POURQUOI? I enjoy it in some cases, but in this case, it doesn't even make sense. She likes him because he's hot, and what? SPOILER He "saved" her? Big deal. Actually, maybe it is. *END OF SPOILER* I seriously don't get it. They were on the same bed within one day of Grace meeting the human Sam, and urgh. Why?
Grace kind of ditches her two friends, Rachel and Olivia, when she meets the human Sam, and completely turns her back on school. Why doesn't the teacher notice? Why? Oh, and Jack. I hated him. Enough said.

Final Rating:
